Türkiye Day in PDX: A Journey Through History, Culture, and Tradition
ORTA Oregon Turkish American Association is excited to invite you to Turkiye Day in PDX! Join us for an enchanting afternoon to explore the rich culture and history of Türkiye!
If you are interested in trying Turkish coffee and Turkish delight, please join us at the City of Portland Building on September 22. Come and immerse yourself in Türkiye’s deep historical roots—the cradle of civilization.
Discover Istanbul, a city that has served as the capital of three great empires: Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman. Explore how this ancient city, known as the crossroads of Europe and Asia, has influenced the world through its cultural heritage and the diverse mosaic left by the many civilizations that have called it home.
Try Turkish coffee and learn how Türkiye merges coffee with fortune reading. Learn about the fairy chimneys and underground cities of Cappadocia, or the world’s first temple—11,000-year-old Göbekli Tepe. Play Turkish backgammon, discover your artistic skills by Paper Marbling (Ebru) and attend other fascinating workshops. There will be live music, folkloric dances (Henna Night), and art and culture exhibits. Don’t forget to take home a special gift to remember the day.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
